1. Starved Rock State Park- Oglesby, IL: If you haven’t visited Starved Rock yet, this is the place to go for families and beginners. While it’s a bit of a drive to get out there (about an hour and a half from the city), this large park has numerous different hiking trails so you can pick the length and extreme that suits you best.
