I grew up at Hollister Ranch, so for a long time I probably didn’t fully appreciate how unusual it was.

The beaches, the roads, the cattle, the long drives up and down the coast — it was just where we lived.

Having my own family has given me a different perspective on it. I find myself noticing and appreciating things now that I probably took for granted as a kid.
