🚤 Life Jacket Safety: It’s Not a Popularity Contest! 🛟

When you’re out on the lake, safety should ALWAYS be the priority—not looking 😎 “cool” or worrying about what everyone else is doing.

Make sure everyone on the boat is wearing a properly fitted, Coast Guard-approved life jacket. Kids especially should always be within arm’s reach when they’re in or around the water.

And remember… boat sober! Alcohol and boating don’t mix 🚫 Impaired judgment and the water can turn a fun day into a tragedy in seconds.

Sure, you might become “popular” if something tragic happens and you weren’t wearing a life jacket—but that’s NOT the kind of attention anyone wants. 😔

Think a brand-new home doesn’t need a home inspection? 🤔 Think again!

Before you sign off on the completed work or make that final payment to your builder, have an independent, third-party home inspection performed.

Builders are human too. During a long and complicated construction process, items can be overlooked, forgotten, installed incorrectly, or simply missed as work progresses. New does NOT automatically mean perfect!

As a home inspector, we have no financial interest in the home or the builder. Our job is to provide an honest, unbiased evaluation based on the home's current condition and identify items that may need attention.

A third-party inspection gives you an opportunity to address concerns before you take ownership and before that final payment is made.

Finding problems early can save you time, money, frustration, and headaches down the road.

And remember—this applies to NEW OR USED HOMES!

🚨 THAT LITTLE DISCHARGE TUBE SERVES A BIG PURPOSE! 🚨

During a home inspection, we often find safety relief valves that are missing a proper discharge tube—or have one installed incorrectly.

That yellow tag on the valve clearly spells out the importance of proper installation and inspection.

A boiler/water-heating system safety relief valve is there to protect against excessive pressure and potentially dangerous conditions.

The discharge piping should be properly installed, correctly sized, supported, and directed to a safe termination point in accordance with the applicable plumbing/mechanical codes and manufacturer requirements.

It should never be capped, plugged, or installed in a way that could prevent the valve from safely discharging.

⚠️ This is not a place for shortcuts or DIY modifications. An improperly installed relief valve or discharge pipe can create a serious safety hazard.

And as the tag says:
⚠️ Safety relief valves should be reinspected at least every three years by a licensed plumbing contractor or authorized inspection agency.
