Last day and a half in Scotland soaking up the incredible buildings and views. Grateful for the time with my sister, Steph, and for the hospitality of my nephew, Chase. It was a long route home, on a different airline than planned (mine went on strike), but glad to be home in my own bed. ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇳🇴

Stayed in a lovely Airbnb high atop a mountain with crazy views, and surrounded by pigs, chickens, grouse, rams, and sheep. Headed out to Leakey’s Bookstore in Inverness, then on a little hike to see a waterfall, then on to Ullapool for lunch and shopping. From there, we went on to Corrieshalloch Gorge, and ended with a beautiful boat ride on Loch Ness where we could view the Urquhart Castle ruins. We looked, but did NOT see Nessie. 🦕. Overall, a fantastic day driving through the highlands. Will head back to Glasgow via the western route today which promises to be even more beautiful than the route we took up. So many adventures! ❤️

Headed to the Scottish Highlands. Visited St. Mary’s Church, Blair Castle, Pitlochry (so cute!), and ended up at our Airbnb near Loch Ness. Incredibly beautiful countryside. ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Spent the day sailing on the beautiful fjord. Victoria’s Mormor, Astrid, and her boyfriend, Johannes, were amazing hosts. We had lovely cakes and coffee while on board. We then had a fabulous dinner at Victoria’s parents’ home with her aunt, Andri, and her friend, Nora. Came home to pack. Next stop…Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Took a long, beautiful walk along the fjord and across farmlands in Levanger. Spent two nice hours with Victoria’s Mormor and Johannes over coffee and waffles, saw an amazing performance of the story of King Olav in Stiklestad, and ended the day with moose 🫎 pizza made by Hunter. Lots of memories made, including falling into the fjord after I slipped on a rock 😆🫠🥳

Took a 2.5 drive to Victoria’s Bestemor and Bestefar’s home in Soknedal. Such an incredible drive, which included an ‘American diner’ filled with tons of American paraphernalia. The burgers were incredible! Had a traditional lunch her Bestemor prepared of heart-shaped waffles, cloudberry jam, cream and brown cheese. Plus, the desserts were incredible! Took a beautiful hike to their little cabins on their large property. They have 180 head of Angus cattle, ponds, swans, free-roaming sheep, and really pretty flowers and mushrooms. Came back to a great dinner of mashed potatoes and gravy with mushrooms, onions, and thinly sliced moose, brought by Ingie, Victoria’s Mom. 🫎 SO GOOD! Haven’t seen any moose roaming yet, but I’m looking!!! 😂🇳🇴. I’ll have to add more photos in a second post 😁

Verdal is so pretty! Cops cows, doggies walking along with their golfers, deer, and two cute pups! Plus, a beautiful walk along the golf course and Hunter’s favorite…key lime pie. Angus steaks and salmon for dinner. A perfect day. ❤️
