One of the more interesting projects we've ever been involved with - the addition of a balcony to the East Main Church of Christ in Murfreesboro, TN. A lot of history to this building: the original was used as a Civil War hospital, and James Garfield spoke here in 1863. It was rebuilt in the early 1900s with a side-facing auditorium and a sloping floor with curved pews. This growing church needed more seating, and in 2009, a unique side-balcony was added. For even more seating, and nowhere else to go but up, an interior balcony was decided upon in 2016. A challenging project, including footings, column locations, sight lines, egress, etc. (Structural Engineer: Honeycutt Engineering; Mechanical Contractor: Interstate AC Service; General Contractor: Baron Construction, LLC.)
