I recently received a call from a past client who had an issue with their HOA. My clients purchased a third story single level condo in a great part of Granada Hills, California. During a particularly heavy rain, they noticed water stains around a window in their bedroom. The question they had was this: "At what point does my condo policy insurance kick in to address the damage?" Now I am not an insurance agent and this question is always best addressed by the appropriate insurance professional, but I can explain the basics and the differences between the Homeowners Association Insurance Policy and the Individual Condominium Insurance Policy held by the property owner.
