🏫 Heads up, Grand Forks families — especially if you're moving here this summer.
I received this information Monday through the Grand Forks Public Realtors' Association, and after seeing a frustrated parent in the rants group who hadn't heard about it, I knew I needed to share it right away.
Grand Forks Public Schools has officially capped enrollment at Elroy Schroeder Middle School (ESMS) for the 2026–2027 school year.
Here's what that means for your family:
📍 If you're moving into the ESMS attendance zone, your middle schooler will be re-zoned to Valley Middle School for the upcoming year.
This decision was made to keep student-teacher ratios manageable and maintain quality learning environments across all three middle schools — which is actually a good thing for kids.
And if you haven't heard — Valley Middle School is brand new, having just opened in January 2026. GF Public Schools is welcoming families to tour the campus as they get settled.
