GJARA encourages Realtors to show up and to even speak at two important Grand Junction City Council get-togethers. Council will discuss the Housing Action Plan at a workshop August 31st, 5:30 PM at City Hall. And a vote on the plan is expected Wed, September 16th, also at 5:30 PM at City Hall. This could map the city's direction on regulations for housing, affordable housing projects and assistance for the homeless.

Grand Junction City Council relaxed the requirements for builders to provide bike parking spaces at new developments. Debate was lively on Wednesday. Kudos to those who voiced their opinions. Rules will possibly change as time goes on. Be involved in the process. Council meetings are first and third Wednesdays each month, at 5:30 at City Hall.

GJ City Council considers a rollback of bike parking space regulations...at tomorrow night's meeting. 5:30 PM at City Hall. The spaces add to the cost of building apartment complexes and other developments. Realtors who are also bikers could provide some added perspective as a omplement to the cycling community that's expected to attend. Realtors who are not bikers are also welcome.

GJARA Government Affairs and AMGD are asking Realtors to turn out again for a couple of GJ City Council sessions that could affect the price of housing. Monday's Council Workshop includes discussion of the Housing Action Plan...5:30 at City Hall. Wednesday's regular council meeting, at 5:30, includes consideration of the requirement for developers to provide two bicycle parking spaces for each living space. Members of the biking community (which includes many Realtors) are expected to endorse the provision, which adds to the cost of building, renting and buying places to live.
