Sometimes a specialty tool is just a marketing ploy but other times you use one and will never go back. This basin wrench has been in my plumbing bag for about a year now and it is great. Makes replacing a faucet go from a tangled mess of hoses and elbows to quick twists of the wrist, test and done. It’s staying in my bag for sure.

Something I miss about life in DC was Shake Shack. Something about a smash burger, crinkle fries and a shake really hits the spot sometimes.

I’m pretty excited to see we’re getting yet another sign of “being on the map” vs being a small town.

Shake Shack plans to open its first Grand Rapids-area location with a drive-thru restaurant on an outlot at Woodland Mall.

The quick-service restaurant known for its burgers and shakes would be located at 3029 28th St. SE in Kentwood, a space that’s currently a parking lot between REI Co-op and a multi-tenant building that includes an Rx Optical.

Shake Shack is one of two quick-service restaurants slated to open in the outlot. The Kentwood Planning Commission in October approved plans for a pair of new drive-thru restaurants on the south side of Woodland Mall.

According to preliminary plans filed with the planning commission, the restaurant would be open from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, Thursday and Sunday, and until 11 p.m, Friday and Saturday.

Just read this Realtor.com research looking ahead to the top housing markets for 2026.

National headlines can make the market feel one way or another, but real estate is always local. Markets with steady growth, affordability, and strong quality of life tend to hold up best over time.

Clearly the secret of West Michigan is out. It’s just a great place to live and more and more people want to share in this quality of life.

Viscosity is the word of the day. Trying to hit the sweet spot between cake batter and Greek yogurt for this first pass. I’ve got other words for whoever thought popcorn texture on the walls was a good idea too.
