We just dropped Carter off at West Virginia University and helped him move into his dorm. The campus is incredible, and we had the chance to check out the amazing facilities, including the workout rooms where he’ll be training. We even snuck into the football stadium, which was super cool, and caught a glimpse of some of the football players. The campus is so unique—one of his classes could have a 70’ elevation change from another! His dorm is brand new, really nice, and most importantly (for me) it has central air!

I asked Carter what he was most excited about and what made him nervous. He admitted that meeting all his teammates and being on his own for the first time made him a bit anxious. But when I asked him what he was most excited about, he said, “Being around swimmers better than me to push me. Because, Dad, I know that no matter how hard they push us, I can take it and more... I’ve always been able to push myself harder than most people, and I enjoy it.” If that’s not a badass comment, I don’t know what is. I’m incredibly proud of Carter, and I know my dad is looking down with his chest out, proud that Carter is a Kegle!

P.S. The dorm room looks awesome—Mandy did an amazing job organizing everything!

Carter is officially a high school graduate!!
So proud of you Champ and can’t wait to see what you accomplish at WVU in swim and your studies! He is graduating as a member of the National Honors Society and 4.0 student! Love ya!

Carter had a great day at OK White Conference Championships.

Took 2nd in the 200 free by a foot (the winner had on his tech suite which is a $500 suite that helps and EGR only wears them for States).

Took 1st in the 500 free by 8 seconds and set a new pool record (which was his) and a new Conference record!
He was the anchor for the 200 and 400 free relays and crushed it. So proud of him and sad it was the last time he will swim at the EGR pool!
On to States! Go East!
