2:30 p.m. Sunday. There are two young raccoons in the ditch near the intersection of Raccoon Valley and Broadway, closer to the fenced pasture in that stretch of road. No mother seems to be around at least in the last hour and they appear distressed. Is there a wildlife rescue person reading this that can help them? Or do you know of someone?

Early this morning we discovered a gathering group of Hanyeos, the woman divers of Jeju Island. They were preparing their gear for diving. Haenyeos are a beloved tradition of mostly “grannies”, elderly Korean women who dive for edible sea creatures without diving gear. These amazing women are able to hold their breath for up to five minutes to gather their sea treasures. My dream on this Korean trip was to encounter them and I did!
