From a backyard trailer to 80 years of family-built park models.
In 1946, Solomon Kropf just wanted a decent trailer for a family vacation. The ones he saw were expensive and poorly made, so the Northern Indiana contractor built his own: Masonite walls, canvas roof, waterproofed by hand. He parked it by the road… and a dealer from Michigan asked if he could sell as many as Sol could make.
That accidental start became Kropf Industries.
Our new video walks through the whole story: the converted dairy barn in Goshen that became the factory, the first 10-wide Eldorado built as a wedding gift in 1952, the 1962 fire that nearly ended it all, the shift into park models in the 1970s, and four generations still living by Sol’s rule — “If you do it, do it right. If your name is on it, make it right.”
