Electric consumers in Kansas, including members of Wheatland Electric, are requested to be very conservative with electricity usage starting now and continuing for the next few days.
UPDATE (2:22 PM CT): The Southwest Power Pool (SPP), which manages energy delivery over a 14-state region, has downgraded the Energy Emergency Alert 3 (EEA3) to Alert 2, which is good news. The alert is due to the extreme weather conditions that are causing the tightening supplies of electricity and natural gas.
However, we must remain vigilant with electricity usage. You can help protect the energy supply across the region, and avoid possible scheduled energy interruptions, by doing things such as turning down your thermostat and avoiding the use of your oven and clothes dryer.
