While we always recognize September as Realtor Safety Month, EVERYONE should consider safety EVERY day of every monthf! It's easy to get busy and distracted. Make sure you stay aware and take a look at NAR's informative page on Realtor Safety!

NAR’s Safety Program was created to educate and empower REALTORS® to avoid job-related risks and to create a safety plan for themselves. NAR provides various resources for REALTORS® and REALTOR® associations to use throughout the year, including safety tips and best practices, articles, a Safety Toolkit for Associations, a real estate safety course, training videos, and more. https://bit.ly/2Is3cAs

Oppose HB 1119 and stop higher land taxes for property taxes.

House Bill 1119, “Authority for Different Mill Levy Rates,” would allow local governments to tax land at a higher rate than the structures built on it — fundamentally changing Colorado’s property tax system.

This proposal creates a split-levy system, moving away from Colorado’s longstanding approach of taxing total property value.

The impact:
• Higher tax burdens for homeowners, especially in areas with rising land values
• Increased pressure on long-time owners, retirees, and those on fixed incomes
• Potential barriers for first-time buyers and affordable housing participants
• Inequities between owner-occupied and non-owner-occupied housing

HB 1119 undermines fairness and uniformity and adds unnecessary complexity for local governments.

HB 1119 will be heard Thursday, April 16.

Take action now. Tell lawmakers to oppose HB 1119 and protect a fair, predictable property tax system: https://nar-co.action.aristotle.com/
