Her business degree has played a major part in earning her several awards, designations, and accomplishments along the way; including starting West Realty. She has gained valuable experience working with three different real estate companies including a local builder, being on an Agent Leadership Council, a Founding Member of Women’s Council of Realtors Northern Colorado, serving as Treasurer on the Greeley Board of Realtors, past President of the Milliken Housing Authority, Treasurer of the Westmoor Suite Condo Association, participating yearly in fund-raiser events, and donating her time to the Weld Food Bank, Santa Cops and giving to the local schools. REALTORS® pay yearly dues to the Colorado Association of Realtors (CAR) to help protect and defend the property rights of home ownership in Colorado!

We’re proud to share that HB 1036 (a proposal that would have authorized new “vacancy taxes” on residential property) died in committee — a huge win for REALTORS® and property owners across Colorado.
CAR will continue fighting to protect property rights and oppose unnecessary new taxes on Colorado homeowners.

CAR Chief Executive Officer Tyrone Adams testified at the Colorado State Capitol in strong opposition to House Bill 1036, a proposal that would have authorized new “vacancy taxes” on residential property.

He was joined by many Colorado REALTORS® from PPAR, Vail, SMDRA, FCBOR, and many others who also testified, showing up to speak out on behalf of homeowners, property rights, and a fair tax system.

We’re proud to share that HB 1036 died in committee — a huge win for REALTORS® and property owners across Colorado.

This bill raised serious concerns about unequal tax burdens, layered local taxation, and penalties on lawful homeownership that could disrupt real estate transactions and discourage housing investment.

CAR will continue fighting to protect property rights and oppose unnecessary new taxes on Colorado homeowners.

Seller Impersonation Scams
Vacant parcels are prime targets for seller impersonation scams. Through such scams, impersonators use forged documents, fake driver’s licenses, or falsified corporate paperwork to make it appear as though they own a property. They then take out loans, rent the property or sell it to an unsuspecting buyer.

Scammers will look through land records of each county, and vacant land is a top target. They’ll look at the records for the individual who owns it and will create an identity to line up with the ownership record.

Once the property is listed by an unsuspecting real estate professional, the scam can unfold quickly—often involving a cash buyer, a remote closing with a notary the scammer arranges, and a quick transfer of funds before they disappear. All of a sudden, days, weeks, months, or maybe even years later, the rightful property owner learns the land was essentially stolen from them.
