This morning I stopped into the Mug Shot Saloon & Cafe for breakfast, and I ended up learning a little piece of history about my new hometown that I had no idea about! 🤍
Orchard may be a tiny town, but it has a pretty incredible story. Back when the tv show Centennial was filmed, Universal Studios transformed Orchard into the fictional Old West town of Centennial. Buildings were given completely different facades, the post office became a dry goods store, Ruth’s Cafe became a two-story clothing store, and an entire hotel, depot, freight station, general store and restaurant were built right in town! The longtime postmaster, Clarise Groves, even joked that she was living in two worlds…walking out of the post office in real Orchard and suddenly finding herself in the fictional town of Centennial.
And now, years later, places like the Mug Shot Saloon & Cafe are keeping those memories alive while creating new ones for the community. ❤️
I’m really enjoying discovering the history, stories, and little treasures of the place I now get to call home. Who knew my new little hometown had a Hollywood story?! 🎬🌾
