Last night, we hosted an event we called “Good Neighbors Got Talent,” and were treated to excellent performances by some of our residents and caregivers who have talents that we don’t usually see. It was such a treat to see everyone perform. One of our managers was the emcee, too. A great time was had by all, and we plan to do this again in the future!

Last night we celebrated everyone’s September birthdays with an “Under the Sea”-themed dinner. The residents were treated to a delicious surf and turf dinner and tiramisu dessert. Everyone was surprised to see our ‘barmaid’ and had a lot of laughs at our Lifestyle Director’s costume. A great time was had by all!

Our evening dinner group, Forks & Friends, visited J Pepper’s Southern Grille Friday evening for a very tasty experience. We had some new faces with us, and missed some of our regulars, but it’s great to see our group growing. Next month, we’re off to Cracker Barrel for another delicious meal!

Today started our Better Balance Challenge for the month of September. Residents were given a choice of two tests to see where their baseline score was, and after going through a series of videos this month, they can get a smiley sticker on the wall to keep a record of how many classes they attended, and they’ll get a “trophy” prize at the end.

At the end of September, we will retest and see how much they improved their initial test scores. If they wish, they can continue the challenge into October with a new set of videos. A good time was had by all who attended the first session this afternoon!

According to the Red Cross, December has a great need for blood donations. At Carolina Pines, we’re going to do our part by hosting a blood drive in collaboration with the Red Cross to have the Big Red Bus come to our property.

If you are interested in being a donor, please reach out to our Lifestyle Director or stop by the property to sign up. We need a minimum of 20 people to sign up to donate before September 15 in order to have the blood drive, so we’re opening it up to our residents, friends, families, networking partners, and members of the greater community to help us achieve our goal.

Medical needs never take a holiday. Let’s come together and do our part to help those in need.
