š“ LOCAL SPOTLIGHT: The Portly Palm | Oak Ridge, NC
If you think Oak Ridge and Stokesdale are a restaurant desert, I am here to respectfully tell you that you're wrong. š You just have to know where to look.
Todayās stop: , a newer locally owned spot tucked into the shopping center on Hwy 68 in Oak Ridge.
Their specialty is açaà bowls, and since I was a first-timer, I asked the girl behind the counter where I should start. She recommended the Portly Classic, and she nailed it. Fresh, filling, and absolutely delicious without feeling like I just ate a brick for breakfast.
They also have smoothies, coffee, toast and baked goods, plus locally made goodies like scones, granola and sourdough bread. And I LOVE seeing one small local business use its space to support another.
This is exactly why I started doing these Local Spotlights. Oak Ridge, Stokesdale, Summerfield and the surrounding areas have grown like crazy, and there are some genuinely great locally owned places hiding in plain sight. You do not have to drive into Greensboro every time you want something good.
š 1692 NC-68, Oak Ridge
š“ If you've never had an aƧaĆ bowl, start with the Portly Classic.
š„¤ And if you've already been here, tell me what I need to order next.
I'm going to keep doing the hard work of eating my way through the Triad so you don't have to. You're welcome. š
