Today is National Black Bear Day!! Did you know that black bears are the ONLY species of bear found in the eastern United States? You won't see any near us in Greensboro, but they occupy a whopping 60% of North Carolina!! That's a huge conservation accomplishment compared to their restricted population access throughout the 20th century. You can find all kind of information about these guys online, and today we encourage you to learn all about them and celebrate them; they are a very beloved and important part of our North Carolina ecosystems.
