After losing a nest of eggs to predators, Gertrude & Heathcliffe, who nest at Lake Raymond annually, have re-nested & are keeping six eggs warm for the hatch. Experienced geese, they have moved their nest just south of Rhors pine trees in an area protected by water on three sides. When losing a "clutch" Canadian Geese can produce more eggs within 30 days during the spring.

Gertrude & Heathcliffe who have nested & produced 5 or 6 goslings annually for 5 years, of which three consecutive years, they nested on the point of the McMahon Lot, were attacked by predators. While they are OK, their nest & eggs were destroyed. Very sad news & we will miss watching the little goslings grow. We see the beauty & wonder of nature here, but also the danger & challenge.

These bushes are Fothagillis. They are very winter hardy shrubs and have a very interesting bloom in the early spring. We planted them here because of a winter wind vortex that froze out our Nandena Firebush, less hardy than Fothagillis.
