Our CE&I team was on site in Union, SC for a proofroll of the prepared subgrade. A loaded dump truck makes slow passes over the area while our inspectors walk alongside and watch for rutting, pumping, or deflection. Soft spots found now can be addressed before the next lift goes down, which helps keep the project on schedule.

Lake Channel Survey

Here we combine Sonar (Bathymetric), LiDAR scanning, and conventional survey methods to produce a topo map of the lake water channel.

Sonar maps the channel bottom below the waterline. LiDAR captures the exposed banks and sandbars. Conventional survey ties both data sets to control. Together they produce one continuous surface from the shoreline to the channel floor.

Mapping what you can't see. Bathymetric survey work supporting a geotechnical engineering project in the Upstate. 🌊📐

What is a bathymetric survey?
It's topography, underwater. Instead of shooting grades across a site, we're collecting depth data across a water body to build an accurate model of the lake bottom.

On this project, that surface fed our geotechnical team's analysis — bottom profile and the conditions our engineers needed before making a recommendation.
