Our College & Career Readiness and Government & Economics students had the honor of hearing from Dr. Trina George, City Manager for the City of Grenada. Despite her busy schedule, Dr. George took time to teach students about Grenada’s unique Council - Manager form of government and how it differs from the traditional Council - Mayoral system.
She encouraged students to stay committed to their future goals through OJT, trades, community college, university, or military pathways, while also sharing her inspiring journey to becoming City Manager.
Students learned that Dr. George became the first woman and first African American woman to serve as USDA Rural Development State Director in Mississippi, where she has overseen more than $10 billion in federal loans and grants impacting rural communities across the state.
