Hauled off 1400 lbs of debris to the solid waste facility this morning. Getting close to wrapping this journey up.

Thank you councilman Jack Dunavant and councilman Malcolm Bowen for quick removal of the top sill of Bainster Town Tavern early this morning. I struggled with it for several hours at the end of the day yesterday finding no easy or safe way of removal.

September 14, 2025 window boxes removed, exterior walls down, with the exception of the front. Was really planning on getting this this old girl down completely this week but the best made plans by mice and men… can’t thank my friends Kenny and Malcolm and my father in law Steve enough for all of their help this week. Sadly, Banister Town Tavern was in much worse shape than I was expecting. I would say that I was only able to salvage 50% of the original structure.

September 12, 2025 more progress today with Banister Town Tavern. Starting to remove the ceiling joists. Thanks again to Councilman Malcolm Bowen for helping me early this morning and as always I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Halifax Town Manager Carl Espy IV when he stopped by. I can not begin to express how grateful I am to him and the wonderful people of Halifax for being more than patient with me as I have now nearly completed the laborious removal of this piece of Halifax history… and a very heartfelt thank you to my father-in-law for helping with this project. I am certain that this was not on his agenda while trying enjoying his retirement, but I did give the best grandson on the planet.

Lots of progress on the removal of Banister Town Tavern today. Thanks for councilman Malcolm Bowen for helping us today get through everyone’s fear of heights, including his own lol. Roof down, siding slowly coming down as well. Ceiling joists are next after some clean up and a few trips to the solid waste center in the morning. I am a few days behind my schedule but steady as it goes. It will be sad not to see this old girl standing so proudly on her foundation looking over the neighborhood with great vigilance for more than 250 years are so.
