Yesterday was the most emotional closing of my real estate career.
This wasn't just another transaction. It was my dad's home.
I was blessed to be by his side until he passed away, and then I walked through the probate process and everything that comes with settling a loved one's estate. Selling his condo was pretty tough..
I passed out flyers, hosted open houses, and prayed the right buyer would come along. Then she walked through the door. She told me she was ready to downsize and leave behind the work of maintaining a house. The moment she saw the condo, I just knew it was meant to be hers. Yesterday, seeing her so excited made my heart smile. Watching everything come together reminded me that sometimes the right home truly finds the right person.
This experience has given me an even deeper understanding of what families go through when selling the home of a loved one. If you or someone you know is facing the loss of a family member, navigating probate, or simply doesn't know where to begin with selling a home, please know you don't have to do it alone. I'm here not only as a REALTOR®, but as someone who has personally walked that path. I'd be honored to help make the process a little easier during such a difficult time.
A heartfelt thank you to Shelly Meza,Realtor for being at those Open houses with me to find a buyer, Ashley Harris, the buyer's agent, for being such a pleasure to work with, and to Virginia Dixon, our closing attorney, for making the closing smooth, efficient, and seamless. Thank you to my friends that helped me get the big stuff out of the condo, Lee, Paul, Wayne, & Jeromy. Thank you Derrick for letting me use your sweet Toyota Tacoma :)
Dad, this one was for you. ❤️
If this story reminds you of someone who could use guidance during a difficult transition, please feel free to share this post or have them reach out to me. Sometimes helping someone starts with simply having a conversation.
