The local observance of National Walk to School Day for Atkinson Elementary, sponsored by Wellstar Spalding Regional, was hosted here at Northside on November 1st. We had a great turnout despite the cold! BRRRRRRR!

The children were escorted by representatives from WSR, teachers, the Atkinson Elementary principal, BOE members, Sheriff deputies, and firemen. They could be heard all the way down the street shouting spirit chants. The event was an opportunity for the children to learn pedestrian safety and the health benefits of walking.
