Frank Malone was raised across the U.S. as one of four sons in a Navy family. Upon retirement from the Navy, Frank’s father Bob Malone (now part of

the Malone Team with Frank) joined his father Bill Malone’s real estate company in Gulf Shores in 1978, and Baldwin County became Frank’s home. After graduating from Foley High School in 1981, Frank earned a B.S. Degree in Accounting from the University of South Alabama in 1985, and received numerous awards on the South Alabama Cross Country and Track Teams during his college career. After a short career as a CPA with Coopers & Lybrand (now Price Waterhouse Coopers) in Birmingham, Frank set off on a 9-year international career in construction accounting and ultimately managed an industrial equipment auction site for Ritchie Bros. in the Philippines. During his international work, Frank lived in South Korea, Egypt, and the Philippines and traveled throughout the world sourcing construction equipment for resale. In 1996, Frank came home to Gulf Shores to join the family real estate business with his father and numerous partners, and has been managing, developing, listing and selling real estate ever since. Together, Bob & Frank have over 55 years of real estate experience. Currently Frank is the managing broker of the Bellator Real Estate & Development Gulf Shores office. It’s hard not to feel proud when you see what our students are accomplishing through the Gulf Shores City Schools Aviation Academy. ✈️

Fewer than one percent of high schools nationwide offer a full aviation academy, and ours gives students hands-on experience in aerospace engineering, aircraft mechanics, plane building and flight training—all right here in Gulf Shores.

This summer, Alabama Public Television will feature the program and the incredible work happening inside our hangars. Their visit came on an especially meaningful day: the first training flight for one of our students in the program’s new plane.

With new dual-enrollment opportunities, middle school aviation classes, internships and continued program expansion, our students are being prepared for promising careers in an industry that is growing right here at home.

We so proud of our educators, community partners and students who continue to make this program soar.

Double red flags mean the Gulf is closed to the public due to potentially life-threatening rip currents and dangerous surf. Waves are running 4–6 feet with strong currents, so this is a “sit, sip, and admire from shore” kind of beach day.

Please respect the flags, stay out of the Gulf, and enjoy the beach from the sand. Your vacation memories should not include a rescue squad.

June brings warmer weather, busier beaches, and the official start of hurricane season.

This year, forecasters are predicting a below-normal Atlantic hurricane season, with NOAA calling for 8–14 named storms, 3–6 hurricanes, and 1–3 major hurricanes. Colorado State University has a similar outlook, predicting 13 named storms, 6 hurricanes, and 2 major hurricanes.

A developing El Niño pattern may help limit storm formation in the Atlantic, but experts are reminding everyone that a “below-normal” season does not mean no risk.

It only takes one storm to make a season serious, so now is the time to review your hurricane plan, check supplies, and stay weather aware as we head into the summer months.
