Well hello there, humans! It’s me, your favorite upside-down holiday mischief-maker, the Bat in a Hat, reporting from deep within Mammoth Cave! 🦇

Today I hung out near the Historic Entrance, pretending to be a ranger (I even borrowed a tiny badge). I greeted guests with my best wing wave and reminded them to respect all the underground critters who call Mammoth Cave home.

You can help prevent mischief on your cave adventure. Remember:

✅ Don’t touch cave formations; they’re delicate decorations that have been around for generations.
✅ Watch your head. We bats are pros at dodging low ceilings, but they tend to sneak up on humans.
✅ If you're snapping a photo, stop walking for safety’s sake… and let’s be honest, I’m dramatically photogenic, so I deserve your full attention.

Bah! Humbug. It’s me, Craybenezer Scrooge – the grumpiest crustacean in Mammoth Cave.

Just the other day, I could have sworn I heard the echo of carolers drifting through the cave. I muttered something about acoustics and scuttled under my favorite rock where it’s damp, undecorated, and blissfully free of glitter. I don’t do garland. I don’t do group photos. And I most certainly don’t do merriment. I prefer the company of cold stone and quiet puddles.

If you descend into my domain, I implore you to keep your cave experience dignified:
✅ Grasp the handrail along your tour route; otherwise, you may be visited by the ghost of choices past.
✅ Dress for the chill; the cave entrances are brisk, and the outside air sometimes bites harder than my claws can pinch.
✅ Choose your footwear wisely. I’ve judged many a shoe choice and let me assure you: fashion is fleeting, but traction is paramount.
