Let’s talk about estate sales.

If you’re an older adult preparing for a move—or helping a parent or loved one transition into a new home—you probably already know how overwhelming it can be to sort through a lifetime of belongings.

Furniture, decor, kitchenware, collectibles… what fits in your next space, and what needs to be rehomed?

✨ One option to seriously consider: an estate sale before the move.
It’s a great way to downsize efficiently, generate a little extra income, and ease the emotional and physical burden on your family down the line.

Most people think of estate sales as something that happens after a person passes—but doing one before you move is often even more helpful. It allows you to focus on what’s staying, while professionals handle pricing, setup, sales, and even donation or clean-out services afterward.

Can you DIY it with garage sales or Facebook Marketplace? Sure. But that also means handling the photos, pricing, logistics, and strangers messaging you at all hours.

As a Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES®), I work with trusted estate sale companies and organizing pros who treat you (and your belongings) with care and respect.

You don’t have to do it alone—and I’d be happy to connect you with the right resources.

📞 Let’s talk about your next step.

An estate sale, also referred to as a tag sale, is a method of liquidating the belongings of a family or estate. Here's how it works.

Longer Lives Impact Housing Needs
Americans are living longer than ever! 🌟 The number of people aged 65+ is projected to grow by 47% by 2050, and the number of centenarians (those 100 and older!) is expected to quadruple.

This trend means housing needs are changing. Longer life expectancy means more seniors are looking for homes that suit their evolving needs—spaces that are accessible, affordable, and ready for aging in place. 🏠

As a REALTOR® with the SRES® designation, I’m here to help you plan for a home that works not just for today but for the decades ahead. Let’s talk about finding a place that supports you now and into the future. 💬✨

Loneliness is a Health Risk as We Age

More than a third of people aged 50 to 80 report feeling lonely—and nearly as many say they often feel isolated.

This is important because experts say that loneliness can lead to serious health issues, including depression, cognitive decline, chronic inflammation, and even a higher risk of heart disease and early death.

If you or someone you love is feeling lonely or isolated, please know this: You are not alone. And there are ways to reconnect, re-engage, and rebuild community.

Small steps like joining a walking group, volunteering, or attending local events can make a big difference. Even making a move—whether to a more social neighborhood, a walkable community, or closer to family—can open up new opportunities for connection.

And connection can add years to our lives and life to our years.

As a Seniors Real Estate Specialist® (SRES®), I help older adults explore housing options that prioritize community, wellness, and vibrant living. If you’re thinking about a move that brings more connection into your life—or the life of someone you love—let’s talk.

The holiday season is all about connection, comfort, and showing our love. But when someone you care about is downsizing or preparing for a move, traditional gifts might feel a little… overwhelming.

So what do you get the person who’s letting go of extra “stuff”?
✨ Think: personal, meaningful, and useful without adding clutter.

Here are a few thoughtful ideas:
🖼️ A custom art piece featuring their old home, a cherished heirloom, or a piece of china from their favorite set
📚 A collection of family recipes turned into a bound book
🖥️ A gift certificate to digitize old family photos, letters, or home movies
🎟️ Tickets to a play, museum, or concert you can attend together
🪴 A small plant with a special pot and care instructions
🧘‍♀️ A wellness gift like massage sessions or a seniors yoga class package
🧩 A beautiful puzzle, large-print book, or hobby item tied to their interests
📝 A memory journal with prompts to help them share stories, reflections, and life lessons in their own words

These gifts say: I see you, I know what matters to you, and I want to be part of your next chapter. ❤️

If you’ve given or received a gift like this—something downsizing-friendly, sentimental, or just plain lovely—I’d love to hear your ideas!
