One tip that never fails: make sure every room tells a story. Whether it’s a cozy reading nook, a beautifully set dining table, or the perfect home office, buyers should be able to imagine themselves living in the space. This is what transforms a listing into a dream home.

By focusing on the lifestyle buyers crave, you create that wow factor that sticks with them long after they’ve walked out the door.

One of our favorite design rules is actually not much of a rule at all:

Buy what you love to look at. Buy what you love to live with. Throw it all together, and somehow it works.

We spend so much time worrying about whether something matches, whether it's on trend, or whether it's what we're "supposed" to choose. But the most beautiful homes rarely feel perfectly curated. They feel personal.

The homes that stop us in our tracks are filled with pieces collected over time. Things that tell a story. Things that spark a memory. Things that simply make the homeowner happy every time they walk by.

Your home shouldn't look like everyone else's. It should look like yours.

And when every piece is something you genuinely love, it all has a way of coming together.

The best homes aren't built in a day. They're collected over years.

Somewhere along the way, we've been taught that every room needs to fit perfectly into a box. That everything should coordinate. That there’s a right way to decorate. I disagree.

The homes with the most character are often the ones that break the rules. They're layered, personal, and filled with things their owners genuinely love.

So if you're wondering whether something goes with the rest of your home, the better question might be: do you love it?

There’s always a point every year when I realize summer has officially arrived. Not because the calendar says so, but because I start noticing all the little things.

The winter coats (finally) get put away. The flip flops make their way to the coat closet. I switch the wreath on the front door and start pulling out all of my favorite summer serving pieces again.

Before long, the hydrangeas will be blooming, there will be pool towels draped over every chair in the house, and my kids will be running through every sprinkler they can find.

I think homes feel different in the summer. At least mine does. It's happier. It's more relaxed. And it's the time of year I love entertaining the most.

For me, making our home feel like summer isn't about doing anything dramatic. It's the little things, a refreshed front porch, fresh flowers on the counter, lanterns glowing outside at dusk, and creating outdoor spaces where people want to stay a little longer.

These are a few of the simple things I do every year to welcome summer home.

What makes your home feel like summer?

This type of space will always have my heart. 💚

I find myself drawn to rooms that feel inviting, thoughtfully curated, and full of character. When I'm styling a home, I focus on creating balance, adding layers of texture, and making every detail feel intentional.

For me, great interior design isn't about filling a room, it's about creating a space that feels like somewhere people genuinely want to spend time.

Homes that are designed well make people want to stay awhile and there’s just something about a home that feels so alive in the summer.

This season always gets me so excited creatively. I love pulling together thoughtful details to host friends over and creating a home that feels warm, elevated, and effortless all at once. 😅 Easier said than done but it’s literally what fuels me!!

Does making your house a home fuel or drain you? What tips can I share that would make things easier?
