Dear Maiden Choice Apartments Resident,
We hope this letter finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. The past few weeks have, undoubtedly, been some of the most life-changing weeks we’ve seen in modern times. The looming threat of the COVID-19 virus has taken this country, and our state, by storm. We are hoping and praying that the extreme social distancing will prove effective to slow the spread of this illness and that we’ll all soon be back to normal.
As your property manager, we wanted to reach out and address a few important issues regarding the pandemic as well as your tenancy.
1) Social Distancing’s Purpose:
Right now, no doubt you’ve heard about (and are engaged in) what we refer to as “social distancing.” The purpose of this world-wide action is not simply to stop you from getting sick; the larger purpose is to slow down the progression of this virus so hospitals will not be overwhelmed with those who are most likely to be affected. Without social distancing, hospitals will quickly be overrun with far too many patients and not enough equipment to handle it. As such, we just encourage you to stay home and follow the guidelines set forth by the CDC, which you can read more about by going to http://cdc.gov/coronavirus.
For the sake of your own health and as a courtesy to your neighbors, please refrain from large gatherings in your apartment. Inviting guests over increases foot track, people in and out of our buildings and increases the risk of spreading COVID-19.
As you know we have many elderly residents who reside with us and some have pre existing conditions that put them at a higher risk for infection.
Since we are enforcing this rule, and you have received this in writing, you will be in violation of your lease if you are found ignoring this rule. The same rule applies here as it is outlined in your lease pertaining to upholding the safety and well being of your fellow apartment dwellers and neighbors.
Ignoring this rule and having large gatherings in your apartment will, now, as of today until further notice put you in violation of your lease, resulting in termination of your lease.
2) Maintenance and Repairs:
Due to the restrictions on work and the need to keep government-mandated social distancing, we may be slower than normal to respond to non-emergency maintenance requests. Please don’t hesitate to call us with any requests, but please be patient as we work on what we can when we can. And if any maintenance workers are sent to your home, please be sure to keep at least six feet away from them, to maintain the social distance protocol..
3) Rent Payments:
As of now, the owners of rental properties in the United States are still responsible for making their mortgage payments to their banks, as well as paying for taxes, insurance, repairs, and other expenses needed to maintain your home. We still need to make sure we receive income to cover these bills.
If you have lost all ability to pay rent, including losing your job, your other sources of income, your unemployment has run out, and no government assistance comes to fruition, then please call us at the office as soon as possible so we can help you go over your options. Communication is key and urgent.
4) Paying your Rent and submitting maintenance requests
We are moving to a new system to collect rent and maintenance requests please read below and submit your email address so you can be entered into our system
Please email Rochelle @ [email protected] with the following info
Your full address ( building number and apt letter)
Your full name
The email address you want entered into our rent collection system
Cellphone number of person associated with email address we will be using
If you have roommates please assign 1 person to pay the rent online to avoid confusion, meaning only 1 person should reply via email for the whole apartment.
This will allow you to pay online, avoid being late, and not have to worry about writing a check and putting it into an envelope.
This also saves us the hassle of going to the post office EVERY day since so many people pay their rent on different days.
Please email me by Monday March 30th at 9:00 am with your info so we can enter you into our system.
If you still need to pay your April rent we can have it set up in time for you to pay April 1st rent without being late.
If you do not have internet access please call me at 443-562-9982 and leave me a voicemail with your name and building number and apartment letter.
This is a rapidly changing time for everyone, tenants and landlords alike and we will continue to monitor the economic landscape in the coming weeks and months. Thank you for being a valued tenant and we look forward to getting through these tough times together. As always, don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Sincerely
Rochelle Wilkinson
