TAKE ADVANTAGE OF AUTUMN IN THE WORKPLACE.

With these quick and simple tips, you can make the most of autumn this year and bring the enchantment of fall into your business.

BRING IN THE AUTUMN COLORS.
Autumn is known for its vibrant hues. To truly enjoy the beauty of nature’s color pallet this time of year, all you have to do is glance out your window to see the changing leaves.

However, parks and forests don’t have to be the only places to enjoy the vibrant fall foliage. Add a few basic elements to the office to bring in some of those deep burnt tones. Make an orange and gold color scheme change for any soft furnishings, remember to replenish the tangerines in the fruit bowl, and add some elegant pictures and artwork.

ADD SOME FLOWERS.
It sounds easy, and that’s exactly the case. A bouquet of flowers may instantly revitalize a boring office, especially if it has an autumnal theme with orange and gold tones. Every Monday, try to pick up a few to liven up the office on that challenging first morning back after the weekend. You could even create your own arrangement with pine cones and other seasonal elements if you’re extremely crafty.

CHANGE IT UP.
Some say that change is as good as a rest, and because many of us still have a few months until our next vacation, autumn is the ideal season to make some changes at the workplace. Clear your desks of any summer debris that has accumulated, discard whatever you don’t want to keep, and file what you do.

If you have the desire to think beyond that, how about redesigning a few of your workspaces? Rearrange workstations and couches to provide variation and push employees beyond their comfort zones.

REMEMBER THE HOLIDAYS.
With its shorter days and poor weather, autumn might feel like a bit of a bummer for some workers after a long, hot summer. However, it doesn’t have to be with the fantastic holidays approaching. Make the most of Halloween and Thanksgiving to keep your staff motivated and enthused. Organize a bake-off with a Halloween theme, a scary fancy-dress day, or even a field trip for the workplace to see the local fireworks. All of these can serve as effective bonding exercises and will help raise employee morale as we approach winter.

GET READY FOR THE WEATHER.
Autumn brings with it a lot more rain and wind, so your employees will probably be wearing damp jackets and umbrellas when they arrive at work. Invest in a place where they can store them to keep your office tidy. It is better to place this closest to the door to prevent people from walking around the workplace and spilling water all over the place.

HOW TO PERSONALIZE YOUR PROFESSIONAL SPACE.

Let’s be honest. We are at work for a considerable time. To be happy and productive while there, we must work to the best of our abilities.

It will eventually catch up with you if you spend so much time in an uninspiring or, worse, depressing environment. The same is true for working in an area that isn’t designed to be both organized and comfortable. A congested environment causes mental clutter.

The good news is that, even if you work in a cubicle, it’s simple to organize, decorate, and personalize your workspace to boost productivity and energy!

MAKE IT HEALTHY.
Adding natural elements to your office space is a great approach to add aesthetic appeal and improve its overall health. Plants are a great help with this. Because they are easy to maintain and eliminate toxins from the air, pothos, aloe, and jade plants are all excellent choices. They also do well in environments with less light.

Using a Himalayan salt lamp in your office is another way to improve the air quality. Along with purifying, it emits a pleasant, warm glow that makes your space comfortable and welcoming.

MAKE IT COMFORTABLE.
For maximum comfort, consider investing in a cozy back or butt pillow and/or throw to go with your desk chair so you can spend the entire day in it. This allows you to include your favorite colors and patterns into the room, which can give it a unique touch.

MAKE IT UNIQUE.
Include practical pieces that you may customize to fit your own tastes and style. You can:

* Use an antique jar or a quirky mug to store pencils and pens.
* Use a lovely bowl to hold paper clips.
* Make use of an old box to store business cards.
* Place your plant in a colorful ceramic planter and add a pretty vase filled with fresh flowers.
* Use an in-box tray made of a textured woven basket.
* To help disguise unsightly cords, use a basket or container as a phone charging station.
* Bring your favorite mug to work so you can have tea or coffee there.

MAKE IT PROFESSIONAL.
Keep business front and center and don’t go overboard with the very personal stuff. Motivational quotes or inspirational artwork are effective. That picture from your honeymoon though, with you and your partner in your swimsuits on the beach? Probably not the finest idea.

STAY COOL WHILE WORKING IN THE HEAT.

Maintaining your composure while working in the heat can help you stay alert, focused, and safe at work—it may even save your life. Here are some tips for staying cool at work during the warmest days of the year.

DRINK WATER.
Being hydrated is essential. Drinking little amounts of water every 20 minutes or so is crucial, rather than waiting to take a sip until you’re thirsty. By doing this, you can make sure that your organs have access to water throughout the day and that you remain hydrated.

It’s also crucial to start drinking water as soon as you get up, well before it gets hot, and before you start working. You can make sure you always have water on hand by packing one or two water bottles.

HAVE DRINKS YOU ENJOY.
You can stay hydrated by drinking different drinks if you don’t like plain water. Even if consuming large amounts of caffeinated beverages is not advised, it is acceptable to have some caffeine in your drinks because you will still benefit from the liquid.

USE A PERSONAL FAN.
If you don’t have air conditioning in your office and installing it isn’t an option, make sure you have access to a personal fan. You can stay cool, but make sure to keep fly-away paper off your desk!

HAVE BLINDS ON WINDOWS.
Consider putting curtains or sunscreens to stop too much sunlight from entering and heating the office if it has wide windows that serve as a suntrap. Sunscreens and shutters can help lessen the amount of glare from the sun on work screens, saving your eyes.

HOW TO BUILD A CALM WORKSPACE.

If you have a mess of papers, office supplies, stickers, and trinkets on your desk, you probably have mental overload and are squandering time and energy. The truth is that any kind of distraction, be it a ringing phone or piles of documents on your desk, can reduce your productivity and induce unnecessary stress, both of which can be harmful to your health.

The good news? It’s not as difficult as you might believe to create a Zen-like office setting. With a little imagination and rearranging, you may likely increase your focus and productivity while also leading to a better life.

ORGANIZE EVERYTHING.
The documents you are presently working with should be the only ones on your desk. To get there, gather all of the stray papers in your workstation and decide on the following for each one: 1) Act 2) Discard; 3) File; or 4) Assign. A single sheet of paper shouldn’t need to be touched more than once. At the conclusion of each workday, repeat the procedure.

GET YOUR COMPUTER CLEAN.
Simplifying is essential, even in online environments. To make finding documents straightforward, set up a basic folder system (by month or project, for example). Delete any unnecessary programs and icons from your computer’s desktop. Additionally, turn off any distractions, like email, instant messaging, Facebook, and Twitter, unless you need them during the two to three times a day that are set out for them. Your computer will operate more smoothly right out of the box and you’ll be better able to maintain focus and attention on task.

BRING IN LIVING PLANTS.
In addition to providing color and beauty, plants also bring in moisture and purify the air in a room. Research indicates that having living plants might also assist lower stress levels. Do you need more energy? Select colorful and vibrant plants.

TURN ON SOME MUSIC.
Science backs up the health advantages of music. Music can be comforting, invigorating, or even stimulating to the mind, depending on the song. Try different kinds of music to see what suits you best for working. Are you filing things without thinking? Select a song that makes you feel good. Concentrating on a creative endeavor? Choose ballads without lyrics. But keep in mind that the music should always make you feel good, regardless of what genre you choose.

KEEP THINGS SIMPLE.
It’s usually better to have less in an office. Instead of bric-a-brac, concentrate on one or two straightforward, deeply important, and inspirational works of art. Even better, choose a piece that acts as a visual indication to pause, take a few deep breaths, and pay attention to your thoughts and feelings during a mindfulness break.

TIPS TO ENJOY SUMMER IN THE OFFICE.

The nice weather has finally arrived, as you have already noticed! Furthermore, you have undoubtedly observed that your workplace continues to function as though the weather isn’t lovely. You can certainly keep thinking about your next trip this summer, but you can also take control of the situation and figure out how to enjoy the season indoors.

CHANGE UP YOUR MUSIC CHOICES
Now is the perfect time to compile your all-time favorite summer songs into a new playlist. Maybe it’s a timeless song or maybe it’s a tune that nobody else associates with summer but brings back memories of your family’s yearly beach vacation. Alternatively, it can just be a compilation of every “summer song” released in the last 20 years.

HAVE FUN WITH YOUR CLOTHES
Switching up your closet is the easiest way to signal a change of season. Find ways to incorporate your favorite summer clothing, such as bright shorts or a sundress, into your wardrobe. Naturally, remember your company’s dress code and make sure that everything you wear is appropriate for work. However, there’s no reason you should continue to dress in the same clothes you did during the winter time.

SPEND TIME OUTSIDE
Take short daily walks outside to get some fresh air—it can do wonders for your body and mind. This little tip will increase your efficiency and help you get some Vitamin D. Say what? Win-win.

CHANGE UP YOUR COMMUTE
Give yourself more time in the mornings to walk or ride your bike to work if you often drive or use public transit. Try to choose an alternative path if that isn’t a possibility. It will feel more thrilling than you can imagine to change up your daily routine, especially if it has been the same for years.

BRING IN POPSICLES FOR YOUR OFFICE
When you’re needing a treat, have a supply of popsicles in your office freezer. Better still, share them with your coworkers and create new friendships.

Do you have a couple more minutes? Take one and enjoy it while sitting outside.

5 QUICK TEAM-BUILDING ACTIVITIES.

Teams with personal ties to one another typically have more productive and successful working relationships in any type of workplace. While taking a break from work to engage in team-building exercises could be difficult, doing so can foster interpersonal relationships at work. In order to help you get to know your team better, we go over the value of team building in this post and provide five team-building activities.

WHAT ARE TEAM- BUILDING ACTIVITIES?
Games or other social interactions that strengthen the bonds between coworkers are considered team-building activities. There are many different kinds of hobbies, but the majority need a great deal of interpersonal communication, such as sharing intimate facts with one another, cooperating to finish an enjoyable activity, or engaging in friendly competition.

Building rapport among coworkers is the aim of team-building exercises; this fosters the camaraderie and trust that grow into solid working partnerships. Team-building activities also give workers a break from their work, allowing them to refuel and feel refreshed to finish their other responsibilities. Organizations that routinely organize team-building activities may notice improvements in productivity and a more laid-back mood in the office. Through the improvement of their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, these exercises can also benefit each team member individually.

1. GAME OF POSSIBILITIES.
Gather a few random items from the office, preferably one or two for each team member, before you begin the game. Give each person an object when it’s their turn, and they must act out a different usage for it. One way to play along would be for a person to pretend to use a stapler as chopsticks or salad tongs. The other team members have to guess the other usage of the object without the player speaking. Encouraging workers to come up with fresh uses for everyday objects helps foster creativity in the workplace.

2. PURPOSE MINGLE.
This game is perfect to play before a team project or meeting. After deciding what they would most like to bring to the meeting, have each employee approach a different colleague and briefly explain their response. This could be anything like “Assist in determining a sales plan for the upcoming quarter” or “Take thorough notes during the conference.” Engaging in this game before significant tasks can boost team members’ motivation and collaboration, resulting in optimal project completion.

3. WOULD YOU RATHER?
Start by formulating a series of arbitrary “Would you rather?” inquiries, such as “Would you rather watch a football game or an opera?” or “Are you more interested in cereal or pancakes for breakfast?” Using a piece of tape to divide the room in half, put each possible answer on a notecard and arrange them on opposing sides of the tape. Each employee will leap to the side that matches their response when you ask the question.

For as long as you want the game to last, you can keep doing this with different questions. Teams can establish friendships based on shared interests and discover commonalities by getting to know each other’s responses.

4. TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE.
Organize your team into a circle and assign each member to share three “facts” about themselves. Nonetheless, one of the facts has to be false. For example, someone might say, “I play drums in a jazz band,” “I went to space camp in middle school,” and “I am right-handed.” The next task for their colleagues would be to determine which item is false. By highlighting shared interests or character attributes, this game can foster interpersonal relationships.

5. PENNY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS.
Your team members will find a new and interesting approach to get to know each other better with this sharing game. For every team member, all you need is a cent that is no older than fifteen years. Every individual talks about a significant or unforgettable event that occurred throughout the year that is imprinted on the penny. Sharing their memories fosters empathy and a sense of community.

FIND THE RIGHT COLOR FOR YOUR OFFICE.

More often than we think, color influences our daily lives. In the workplace, color may be strategically used to improve employee productivity, well-being, and happiness.

BLUE: THE MOST EFFICIENT COLOR
Numerous studies have demonstrated that blue is the most popular color in the office since it is seen to be the best color for boosting productivity and well-being. According to Lund University research, people who work in fast-paced, demanding jobs will particularly benefit from having a blue room. This is due to the fact that blue is a calming, stress-relieving color that doesn’t interfere with brain function, enabling workers to produce work more effectively.

However, since some people find certain blue hues to be a little melancholy and dismal, it’s crucial to utilize blue sparingly in the workplace. An overly “cold” tone of blue may detract from the welcoming atmosphere of the company. Employee unease may result from this, which will actually reduce output.

Our advice is to test how the color appears in your actual workplace area under both artificial and natural lighting to ensure that the proper shade of blue is selected.

YELLOW: THE MOST CREATIVE COLOR
According to environmental psychologist and wellness consultant Lee Chambers, yellow is frequently used in innovation labs and other creative areas since it is thought of as the color of creativity. Yellow is thought to be an upbeat color that fosters greater creativity and works well in collaborative settings.

Highlighting crucial information and essential learning is made easier with yellow backgrounds, which also improve knowledge retention. If you work in a creative field, Chambers says yellow is a good color choice—as long as you don’t use it too much, as this could cause eye strain.

GREEN: THE MOST CALMING COLOR
Given its associations with nature and the outside world, it should come as no surprise that many find green to be peaceful and harmonious. Numerous studies have demonstrated that the presence of plants in the workplace improves employee satisfaction, creativity, and productivity since they purify the air and look good.

Green is a wonderful color for people who work long hours or who have screen-induced eye strain since it also helps with longer-term focus and attention because it creates less eye fatigue.

Its soothing qualities are similar to those of the color blue, but studies indicate that they have a greater positive impact on wellbeing than on productivity. Nevertheless, it’s a fantastic color option to strike a balance between the two.

RED: THE MOST STIMULATING COLOR
Red is a well-known color that is highly provocative and can signify enthusiasm and power. Employee stimulation can be greatly increased by a pop of red in the workplace, but only when used sparingly—using too much can lead to tension and worry.

Red is the ideal color for energetic workplaces since it draws attention and increases energy levels in us. Think of red as a small energy drink. Chambers claims that studies have shown that the intense, passionate fire of red increases heart rate and blood flow, making it ideal for active workspaces like gyms.

But in order to reap the rewards of red, it must be used carefully. It’s preferable to use it in smaller splashes or in combination with another color, like blue, to create a visually pleasant balance that can increase worker productivity. Too much of it can quickly become overstimulating.

WHITE: THE MOST CLEAN COLOR
White is the color most often used in home offices (54% of workers), despite the fact that it isn’t thought to be the best for happiness, creativity, or productivity. The same can be said of the color white, which has a bad reputation for being dull and uninspired when used in an office setting. It works best in workspaces that have to offer a hygienic or medical setting.

White can make a room feel larger and cleaner, so it’s not necessarily a bad choice for office settings. In fact, it works well in smaller workspaces. White also goes well with almost every other color, so combining it with other colors to add interest to a space is simple. If you must use white, our advice is to combine it with other colors.

HOW TO ACHIEVE YOUR FLOW STATE.

Have you ever become so engrossed in your work that you forgot the passing of time? While it may not happen often for most people, being fully absorbed in an activity like that is a state of being known as Flow.

It’s one of the keys, in my opinion, to happiness at work, and it has the added advantage of boosting productivity while lowering stress. Not too terrible, huh?

However, what exactly is Flow? Why does it matter? And how can we consistently get it for higher output and satisfaction at work?

WHAT IS FLOW?
To put it simply, it’s a mental state you arrive at when you’re completely focused on a task and lose track of time. You also feel content and joyful because the state of Flow helps you to become a more creative and productive person.

I adore Flow because it brings the very Zen idea of being fully present in the moment and discovering contentment and serenity in what you do to work-related duties.

WHY DOES FLOW MATTER?
I think that one of the secrets to real productivity is the capacity to single-task, as opposed to multitask. Not the kind of productivity where you cross 20 things off your to-do list in a single day (though it can be rewarding), but rather the kind where you constantly switch between tasks and stay occupied.

When I talk about true productivity, I mean the kind where significant and enduring tasks are completed and goals are truly attained. It entails finishing important jobs as opposed to spending the entire day responding to emails, making several phone calls, going to numerous meetings, and shuffling papers. It entails concluding important transactions. It implies quality above quantity.

And Flow is how you finish those kinds of significant activities and projects once you’ve learnt to concentrate on them. You become engrossed in those significant and difficult duties, and rather than being distracted by unimportant things (phone calls, emails, colleagues, etc.), you are able to concentrate on the tasks long enough to finish them.

You also have more fun when you immerse yourself in them. You produce better work while feeling less stressed. Rather than just getting things done, you accomplish essential things. You don’t just stay occupied; you make progress.

One of the keys to all of that is Flow.

HOW TO ACHIEVE FLOW.
So how may one attain this otherworldly level of consciousness? Do you have to chant or meditate? No, you don’t, even though meditation can help you focus better. Furthermore, creating flow is not mysterious; rather, it is highly practical. Flow is anything but mystical.

You’ll get better at it, but it may take some practice. The following are essential actions to attain and reap the benefits of Flow:

Have work you are passionate about.
Select a major assignment.
Make sure it is difficult, but manageable.
Discover your ideal calm hour.
Eliminate any distractions.
Learn to devote all your attention to that task.
Have fun and don’t stop practicing.

Finding Flow requires experience. It will require some skill at each stage, including selecting the appropriate task, removing distractions, and determining a calm, peak time for oneself. In particular, maintaining prolonged concentration on a job will take more than one try. However, make an effort to grow from each failure. Every time you achieve success, you ought to reflect on what went well and draw lessons from it. Additionally, you’ll get better the more you practice.

How To Improve Your Work-Life Balance.

The amount of time you spend working and the amount of time you spend doing the things that are important to you outside of work—such as spending time with loved ones or engaging in hobbies and personal interests—is the standard definition of work-life balance. You won’t have as much time to devote to your other commitments or interests when work takes up more of your time.

We’ve put together some advice for enhancing work-life balance below. You can start by applying a few at once or experimenting with one at a time. Keep in mind that it will take some time to develop a strategy that works for you.

PAUSE AND EVALUATE.
Consider the ways in which the different facets of your life are influencing one another. Take a moment to think about your present work-life balance and gauge your feelings. Consider the following questions as you reflect:

Do I have enough quality time to do what I really want to accomplish?

Do I give the people and things that mean to me enough of my time and energy?

Are my personal and professional goals still in line with me? Why or why not?

In what area do I feel most stuck? What is it about this circumstance that gives me that feeling?

DETERMINE YOUR PRIORITIES.
You should begin deciding what you want to prioritize as soon as you have a clearer idea of what you’d like to change. Here are some inquiries you may pose to yourself:

What matters most to me, and how much of it am I doing?

Where am I able to compromise? Where have I been giving in too much?

How can I make sure I’m spending enough time on my relationships and goals?

Where can I combine my obligations so that I can honor multiple ones at once?

TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR TIME.
It’s crucial to learn how to manage your time more effectively now that you are aware of your priorities, which may include setting limits to limit after-hours emails or putting in more time at work in hopes of getting promoted.

Examine how you now spend your time, and if at all possible, try to make timetable adjustments. When additional activities unexpectedly arise, you can utilize a matrix system to prioritize them or “block” your time to concentrate on one area at a time.

SET BOUNDARIES.
Setting limits is an essential component of time management. It will also be crucial to communicate those boundaries. Your team needs to know if you’re spending time with your family after work and can’t reply to emails right away.

There are three types of boundaries at work: temporal, emotional, and physical. Establish modest limits at first, then go farther.
