**🚨 WE ARE OUT OF LAUNDRY SOAP! 🚨**
Community Heroes, we need your help! 🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️
At Serve City, we believe that dignity starts with the basics. That’s why we offer free laundry facilities for our neighbors experiencing homelessness..giving them a chance to clean their clothes, feel refreshed, and take a positive step forward to restore their dignity.

But right now, **our shelves are completely empty**, and we can’t run our machines without you. 🧼🧺

We rely entirely on the generosity of our community to keep these essential cleaning supplies stocked. If you're able to help, please consider donating laundry detergent (liquid, powder, or pods) to our shelter.

It takes a community ecosystem to catch a family in crisis. đź”—đź’™

At 5:30 PM on a Thursday, when most social service agencies were closing for the weekend, a mother and her adult son with autism found themselves stranded and facing a night on the street after a scary car accident in West Chester.

But crisis doesn’t keep office hours, and our local safety net refused to let them fall.

What followed was a beautiful, real-time masterclass in community collaboration. When the West Chester Township Police Department responded to the scene, they immediately advocated for the family and called Pastor Felix at New Life Mission. Pastor Felix brought them to Serve City, and when he found our shelter was completely at capacity for the night, he dug into his own emergency resources to put them up in a motel.

By Friday morning, the family was at our Access Point for intake. We had a bed open but it was a top bunk, which the son couldn't safely climb. Rather than throwing up our hands, our Intake Coordinator jumped on the phone with Sara from the PATH program. Together, they navigated the county network and secured a perfect, accessible long-term placement at Family Promise of Butler County starting Monday morning. To bridge the weekend gap, PATH stepped up with emergency funding for another motel stay.

Six different groups. One unified mission. Zero red tape.

This is what it looks like to fight housing instability in Butler County. No single organization can end homelessness alone...it takes an entire network of heroes working in perfect sync.

Thank you to our incredible partners at Hamilton Police Department, West Chester Police, New Life Mission, PATH, St. Vincent De Paul, and Family Promise. Together, we are building a community where every single link matters.

This Memorial Day, we honor the brave men and women who served our country — including the many veterans who continue to fight battles long after returning home. Homeless veterans face su***de rates significantly higher than their housed counterparts, a heartbreaking reminder that service and sacrifice do not end when the uniform comes off. At Serve City, we remember those we’ve lost and recommit ourselves to standing beside our neighbors in need with compassion, dignity, and hope.

Every single day, individuals in our community face the overwhelming challenge of housing instability and food insecurity. It’s a heavy burden to carry alone that no one should have to.

At Serve City, we know that real, lasting change doesn’t happen through a single program or a quick fix. It happens because of a strong community network where every single link matters. And right now, the missing link might be you.

You don't need a cape to change a life. You just need an hour to share. Here is how you can step up and be a hero in our neighborhood today:

Serve a Meal 🍲: Bring comfort, warmth, and dignity to our guests by helping prepare or serve a hot, nutritious meal. Your smile might be the brightest part of someone's day.

Volunteer Your Time đź•’: Whether it's organizing our pantry, assisting at a community resource fair, or helping behind the scenes, just a few hours of your week creates a massive ripple effect.

Donate to the Mission đź’°: Financial support provides the stable bridge our neighbors need to transition from temporary crisis to permanent, long-term housing stability. Every dollar directly funds hope and a path forward.

When we stand together, we are unstoppable. Be the turning point in someone’s story. Step into the gap, join the Serve City family, and let's move forward, together.

Every great mission has heroes working behind the scenes, and this month we are proud to recognize Louise as Serve City’s May Volunteer Spotlight. Through her faithful service in our Choice Food Pantry, Louise arrives early to stock shelves, prepare the space, and ensure every neighbor who walks through our doors is welcomed with kindness and dignity. Her compassion helps turn a simple shopping trip into a reminder that our community cares. Thank you, Louise, for being such an important part of the story we are building together at Serve City.

Small responsibilities can build confidence: Ryan began helping at the shelter with simple tasks — serving meals, answering phones, opening the door — and gradually discovered purpose and resilience. Read his full story and consider how volunteer roles can create meaningful growth for your family or team.

As a parent, watching your child fight an invisible monster leaves you feeling powerless. To keep a close eye on my young warrior, I asked Ryan to come help at the shelter. He started small but meaningful: serving meals to participants, answering phones, and manning the buzzer at the front door to g...
