10 minutes later it’s all laughs and hugs 🤗 at 4 and 7 I trust them to figure out their issues without me constantly chaperoning. There are only so many times I can say “stop doing that” 😅

Milkweed garden success! I thought I planted too late to get interest this year because our common milkweed isn’t blooming yet, but I guess that shows I know nothing about natural instincts because the monarchs are here 🐛 and thriving!! I have a mix of common milkweed and swamp milkweed. Did you know monarch butterflies (and lots of other beneficial pollinators) and endangered? In the fall come see me for some milkweed seed pods to spread in your neighborhood 👐

Today’s adventure in herbalism: honeysuckle tincture! The girls helped me collect and in a few weeks we will have a tincture stash to last the year. Honeysuckle tincture is anti-inflammatory, antiviral and antibacterial - perfect to have on hand for daily immune support through the winter. I encourage you to try making your own! 🫙🌼

It’s finally here! The update you’ve all been waiting for!

A few weeks ago we released our toads over a week as they matured. It was really wild to see them go from normal toadlets to toads - they would be the same until suddenly over the course of a few hours they would absorb their tale and be fully terrestrial. If they didn’t get out of the water immediately they started drowning! I had to save quite a few and keep a watchful eye. It was a stressful week 😅

Overall the experience was more work than I expected but totally worth it in the end! We learned a lot and the girls got to experience the full life cycle of an animal. It was an experiment we will repeat in the future with frog eggs and take note of differences between the frog and toad raising experience.
