We’ll also be raffling off the demo tie-dye shirt created for the event, so you might leave with an extra one-of-a-kind piece! Whether you go bold or pastel, it’s the perfect way to sip, dye, and hang out.

This is Why Calm Water Hides Behind Every Pier

Ever notice how one side of the Surf City Ocean Pier looks glassy… while the other side is choppy? 👀

That’s wind shear at work.

When wind blows at an angle across the pier, the structure actually blocks and disrupts the airflow on one side. The pier acts like a barrier — reducing surface chop and creating a cleaner, smoother water texture on the protected side.

Meanwhile, the exposed side takes the full hit of the wind, creating texture, bump, and short-period chop.

On certain days in Surf City, you can literally see the difference from the beach. One side looks almost glassy. The other? Wind-blown.

It’s a small detail — but if you surf, fish, or film drone footage around Topsail Island, you start to notice these patterns fast.
