Hampton and the region will be under a wind and coastal flood advisory today, according to the National Weather Service at Wakefield.

The wind advisory is from noon until midnight today. Northeast winds are expected to be 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects like trash cans and lawn furniture. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result, the weather agency reports.

A coastal flood advisory has been issued for Hampton from 7 p.m. until midnight today. One to two feet of inundation above ground level is expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. Shallow flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near waterfronts and shorelines resulting in a low threat of property damage.

Expect up to one foot of water above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks and lawns near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding.

Please monitor your local weather station or app for any changes or updates on severe weather conditions.
