Location: 425 W. Irwin St., Hanford, CA (In front of Hanford Police Department)

The City of Hanford is excited to announce that the community time capsule in front of the Police Department since 1976 will officially be opened this Thursday, inviting residents to take part in a special event celebrating Hanford's rich history and shared heritage.

Over the past several days, the City has heard from many community members who expressed enthusiasm and eagerness to see the time capsule opened. That passion for Hanford's history demonstrates the strong connection residents have with their community and the importance of preserving memories for future generations.

"We appreciate everyone who reached out and shared their excitement about the time capsule," said City Manager Chris Tavarez. "The community's interest reminds us how meaningful this piece of Hanford's history is. We are pleased to move forward with the opening and invite everyone to join us for this memorable occasion."

The opening will provide residents with the opportunity to view items that were carefully preserved decades ago, offering a unique glimpse into Hanford's past while celebrating how far the community has come.

The City looks forward to bringing together residents of all ages to experience this historic moment and reflect on the people, events, and milestones that have shaped Hanford over the years.
