⚠️Begins Monday June 1st. ⚠️

🚨REMINDER - PENNDOT BRIDGE PROJECT
BRIDGE CLOSURE scheduled to begin Monday, June 1:
Bridge Work on PA-116 / Hanover Rd. Conewago TWP / Main St. McSherrystown
From PENNDOT – – The bridge on 116 Main St through McSherrystown will be shut down on June 1st. This is the bridge structure located in front of the Food Lion/Subway Plaza that crosses Plum Creek. Repairs are needed to the underside of the bridge deck. The work is anticipated to last approximately one month. All work is weather dependent.

The posted detour route will be as follows:
Traffic traveling East on 116 will turn left on SR2006 Centennial Road then Right on SR2009 Chapel Road and Right on SR2008 Edgegrove Road and Oxford Ave to the intersection of Elm and 116. Traffic traveling West will follow this same posted detour route the opposite order. Elm then right on Oxford and Edgegrove to Chapel to Centennial and back to 116.

Spring Yard Waste Collection – May 13th & 14th
The fall yard waste is scheduled for May 13th & 14th. Yard waste collection will occur during the resident’s regular trash pick-up day.

• Leaf waste includes leaves and garden residues. It does not include grass clippings, which may be placed in normal garbage collection.
• Leaves must be placed in paper biodegradable bags or open containers – NO PLASTIC BAGS
• Place all containerized leaf/yard waste adjacent to the street at the curb, and keep branches separate from containerized leaves.
• Tree limbs and trimming shall not exceed two inches in diameter or four feet in length, and must be bundled and tied.

From Waste Management: Beginning March 25th through March 27th Conewago Township residents will receive a new trash and recycling collection cart at no charge. Please begin to use your new carts on your first scheduled collection day after you receive it. For more information, visit WM.com or call 800-866-4460.

*Residents are to leave the old toters curbside for Waste Management to collect.

The Conewago Township Maintenance Manager has issued a Snow Emergency for 6 PM on Saturday, January 24, 2026, until 6 PM on Monday, January 26, 2026.

The snow emergency notice has been added to the Township website and the following radio/TV stations were contacted:

🚨Santa officially kicks off at 4:00 PM sharp from the S.A.V.E.S. station and will ride in style aboard a fire truck as he tours Allwood Manor!
🚒This year, Santa will be riding inside the tanker (perfect for waving through the windows and staying cozy!).
🛑Route & Stop Schedule
A detailed map and list of exact stops is below. Pick your favorite spot, bundle up the kids, and be there on time – Santa’s schedule is tight and he can’t wait to see everyone!
🎄Don’t miss the magic – Santa can’t stop everywhere, so make sure you’re at one of the official stops. See you on the 13th for a couple of hours of sirens, free candy canes for kids of all ages, and Christmas cheer!
