A concerning housing trend 💔

I am saying this out of love & compassion.

I have had 3 listing apts in the last few weeks for estates & living estates.

None of them had plans in place. 😥

I'm meeting with families who are sad and grieving but at the same time are overwhelmed by the process, be it the home, Medicare, document sourcing and or just the volume of things that individual had.

Parents & adult children - Please talk about the tough subjects. Talk about what your wishes are. Talk about where the important papers are. Make it as easy as possible for all involved so that they can grieve. It's a hard conversation but it creates ease for the time when it's most needed.

Ever since 2020 and the C word - the amount of elderly home owners not going to care facilities and or downsizing is alarming. I understand the hesitation and the distrust but if this is the route chosen please please do what you can to prepare outside of what you can do paperwork and finance wise the absolute best thing you can do is trim down on the things you own.

A couple months ago a dear friend's father passed, he was in his 90's. His father had been a casket maker, he would store scrap wood and caskets in the attic. There were 45 caskets and loads of wood in the attic, guess who got to help? Not pictured the caskets.

I go on these apts & my heart hurts for these families because they are dealing with loss & are overwhelmed at the same time.❤️‍🩹

The point is, have the hard talk, have a plan, start cutting down on the things you own. It will be easier for everyone and allow them to grieve.
