We love it when we get multiple reviews from the same families. It really helps us know we didn’t just do a great job in one persons eyes. Aside from support ourselves with this job, this really is a passion, and it’s not just inspecting. It’s educating and informing people about things in their home they may never have known about. Talking about best practices with maintaining their home and what to watch out for in the future…we always say we’re here to help and we mean it.

Sometimes we get calls to inspect homes before they are finished….

When “uh oh” becomes “oh cool”….also please don’t go trying to yank out outlets in your home after watching this…if you’re looking to have one of these put in, contact a licensed and insured electrician to remove the outlet and make the area safe for something like this.

We scheduled a few days off this month to work on a basement and crawlspace project…it’s coming along nicely but was a big reminder about why you should always have your crawlspace regularly looked at, not just when you are buying. You really never know what you’re going to find down there.

Feeling the Friday Vibes….here are some more 5 star reviews that came in through google this week. Thank you again to all our clients that leave such kind feedback. We’ve heard from other clients that reading these reviews has helped them decide to call us, so thank you all!

Let’s talk about attic ladders…. A lot of times we’ll encounter broken or incorrectly set ladders. These are hazards that could break further on you and cause injury. If this is called out on your report, we’d definitely recommend not ignoring it….a safety issue is a safety issue period.

If they were trying to play CLUE, then no…they did not get Inspector Pete in the Kitchen with the Microwave 😂. But in all seriousness, this is not a safe location for the microwave. The microwave is resting on 2 L-brackets, with nothing but gravity keeping it in place. While it is connected to a functional GFCI outlet, another GFCI outlet in a different unit in this multiple family house, that was recently installed, broke right before the inspection and was still providing power to the outlet. Even protective devices can fail, and you might not know about it. It’s very important to regularly test and reset GFCI breakers and outlets (the buttons are right on them) and test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to make sure they are functional and keeping you safe.

We include videos like this in our reports because…well we can…but also because they can help illustrate starting issues and quirks that you might not be focused on until after you run across them yourself. Our reports are built not just to help you before you purchase the home, but also to help you after you’re living there.
