🏡 A longtime Harrisburg business has new local owners

Brewer Flooring, founded by Todd Brewer, has been sold to local owners Mike Condran, Trish Condran, and Shawn Gipe.

Key details:

• Brewer Flooring is based in Harrisburg
• Founder Todd Brewer has sold the business
• The new owners are local
• The sale marks a leadership transition for the company
• The business remains connected to the Central PA community

This matters because local businesses help support homeowners, contractors, property owners, and the real estate market.

“Keeping businesses locally owned helps keep relationships, jobs, and community investment close to home.”

🏫 Pennsylvania is looking at a new way to fight teacher shortages

A state lawmaker is proposing funding for the Talent Recruitment Account, a teacher recruitment initiative designed to help grow and diversify Pennsylvania’s educator workforce.

Key details:

• Around 3,300 teacher vacancies were reported statewide at the start of the 2024-25 school year
• About half of PA school buildings had at least one teacher vacancy
• Emergency teaching permits have more than tripled over the last decade
• The proposal would help support students pursuing teacher certification
• The legislation has not officially been introduced yet, so details are still limited

This matters because strong schools are a huge part of strong communities — and they can impact where families choose to live.

What do you think? Is this a smart move for Pennsylvania schools?

⛽ Pennsylvania gas prices are finally coming down

Drivers across PA are seeing some relief at the pump, with gas prices down nearly 50 cents from last month.

Key details:

• Pennsylvania’s average regular gas price is about $4.14
• One month ago, it was about $4.64
• York is averaging around $4.03
• Lebanon is just under $4
• Chambersburg-Waynesboro is around $3.90
• Prices are still higher than last year, but this drop helps commuters and families

For Central PA, this matters because so many people drive between towns for work, school, shopping, and weekend plans.

“Lower gas prices do not fix everything, but they do give families a little breathing room.”

What do you think — are gas prices finally feeling better, or still way too high?

🚧 HACC is expanding workforce training in Central PA

HACC is launching a new Civil Construction Technology certificate at its York Campus, focused on helping students gain practical construction and infrastructure skills.

Key details:

• Program launches at HACC’s York Campus
• Focused on construction and civil engineering technology
• Includes classroom learning, hands-on labs, and field work
• Covers site preparation, roadway construction, utilities, water and wastewater systems, safety, and construction technology

This is bigger than one program. It is about building the workforce Central PA needs for roads, housing, utilities, and future development.

What do you think — should more colleges offer fast-track workforce programs like this?

Five things I bet you didn’t know about Central PA.

Number one: Harrisburg’s Rockville Bridge is considered the longest stone masonry arch railroad bridge in the world, stretching across the Susquehanna River with 48 massive arches.

Number two: Carlisle was founded in 1751, and George Washington chose it as the site for one of the army’s early arsenals and military schools.

Number three: Harrisburg played a major role during the Civil War. Camp Curtin opened in 1861, and tens of thousands of Union soldiers passed through the city.

Number four: Hershey wasn’t just a chocolate town in Pennsylvania. Milton Hershey also founded Hershey, Cuba, where sugar production helped support Hershey’s chocolate empire.

Number five: The Hershey Bears are one of the most successful teams in American Hockey League history, with more Calder Cup championships than any other AHL franchise.

Central PA is not just farmland and small towns. It is infrastructure, history, chocolate, sports, and economic legacy all packed into one region.

If you want the full breakdown and to see how this impacts local property values, comment “REPORT” down below and I’ll send you the link. I’m Arpan Tiwari, tracking Central PA’s growth.

⚽ Hershey’s Christian Pulisic is dealing with a World Cup injury concern.

Pulisic has been training separately from the U.S. team because of a calf injury, raising questions about whether he’ll be available for the next World Cup match against Australia.

Here’s what we know:

✅ Pulisic has a calf injury
✅ He trained separately for multiple days
✅ He came out at halftime in the U.S. win over Paraguay
✅ The U.S. won that match 4-1
✅ His status for the Australia match is still being watched
✅ For Hershey and Central PA, this is a major local-pride story
Should Team USA play him if he’s close to ready, or rest him for later?
