Out and About in Arkansas!! ❤️
PSA, there is definitely poison Sumac on the trail somewhere!! 🙄
This place!! If you know you know!
But just in case you don’t know…
Hawksbill Crag and Whitaker Point are actually two names for the exact same destination. The trail is officially called the Whitaker Point Trail, while the famous, hawk-shaped sandstone rock formation at the end of the hike is known as Hawksbill Crag. [1]
The Hike: It’s a moderately easy, 2.7 to 3-mile round-trip out-and-back trail. It typically takes about 2 to 3 hours to complete. [1, 2]
The Destination: The crag itself juts out over a staggering 150 to 200-foot drop-off, offering breathtaking views of Whitaker Creek and the Upper Buffalo Wilderness. [1, 2, 3]
Drive & Access: Located in the Ozark-St. Francis National Forests, the last 7 miles of the drive are on a gravel/dirt county road. A standard 2WD car can make it in dry conditions, but high clearance is recommended. [1, 2]
Tips: Parking is limited, so arrive early. Be sure to use the Whitaker Point Trail (Hawksbill Crag) AllTrails Guide to map your route offline, as cell service is very spotty.
