There are numerous things you should do before closing on a home, but there are some things you should NEVER do...

Think it's a good idea to buy a new car to celebrate? Think again, you might be giving up your dream home for your dream car.

Avoid all of these, so you don't miss out on closing on your new home:

-Switching jobs
-Opening new lines of credit/ using up your credit cards
-Buying or leasing a new car
-Depositing large amounts of cash into your bank (consult with your lender before doing this)

Try to focus on getting your home packed and maintaining your credit score so that moving is a breeze and your mortgage payments remain solid.

Thinking of remodeling?

If you want my two cents, keep listening.

It's always a good idea to start with rooms that will give you the highest return on investment (ROI), and know that it's not a race! Doing little by little will allow you to budget and perfect what you're going for.

I would start with the bathroom or the kitchen as these two rooms give you a 90-102% ROI.

If you're working with a smaller budget do minor work such as changing the appliances, vanity, and repainting the cabinets then move onto flooring and adding a kitchen island.
