Update on the Jacobean style Thomasville Chair Co. Buffett from 1925.
I’m between shops as a larger one is being finished, but I’ve commandeered the majority of the garage to work!
This lovely piece has been completely stripped, repaired, sanded, and all but the top has been stained.
New walnut veneer has replaced the original damaged veneer (after three hours of hand-scraping!), and has been trimmed and finish sanded so it’s ready for stain.
The weather will postpone the top stain if it’s too cold and/or humid this weekend, but there’s still some (they multiply) details to attend to if I need to wait.
Either way, it will be finished in the next week and next up is the enamel table with leaves from the 40’s. These were quite common in the day, and I’ve had a few people comment on how their grandmother would make pies on them.
That’s the best part of my business- hearing the stories about how life was when these tables, buffets, etc. were used daily. History, memories, smiles, tears - all from a piece of “old” furniture ❤️
