🚨 Drought Emergency Update – Outdoor Watering Now Fully Banned 🚨

Kenoza Lake, Haverhill’s primary drinking water source, has dropped into the Critical Drought Zone and is now 9.7 feet below average. The recent rainfall has been extremely minimal and has had no measurable effect on restoring reservoir levels. Our water supply continues to decline, and conditions remain severe.

To protect the city’s drinking water, all outdoor watering is now prohibited, except for a small list of essential uses such as food production, livestock care, irrigation using stored stormwater, and limited water use needed for certain business or public operations.

Indoor water conservation is more important than ever. Please help by:

• Fixing leaks
• Running full loads
• Taking shorter showers
• Using water‑efficient fixtures

Businesses should review and reduce water use, repair leaks promptly, and comply with all restrictions.

Mayor Barrett is pleased to announce that parking in Downtown Haverhill will be FREE on Saturday, September 12, 2026, for River Ruckus!
All city-managed parking lots and meters in the downtown area will be free of charge, and the Granite Street parking garage will also be open for free parking from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Please come downtown and enjoy this exciting event!

Monday, September 7th, is Labor Day, a federal holiday. As a reminder, all curbside trash and blue recycling routes will be delayed by one day. Friday's routes will be serviced on Saturday.

Public Notification – Utility Improvements Work in Locke Street Area
The City of Haverhill would like to inform you of upcoming water utility improvements in the Locke Street area, starting next week. This work is part of the City’s commitment to improving and modernizing critical infrastructure and is funded through the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF). This portion of the project will include rehabilitating and replacing existing water mains on Locke Street, Union Street, Charles Street, and Union Street. Work will be completed during the daytime, generally between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Street parking will be limited on these streets during construction and portions of these roadways will likely be down to single lane traffic during these hours. Residents and business owners will always maintain full access to their properties. 🚨 Water Main Break Alert – Hilldale Ave Area 🚨

The DPW is currently responding to a water main break near 100 Hilldale Ave. As a result, water service is temporarily shut down from Lafayette Square to Cathy Drive.

Repairs are underway, and the estimated restoration time is 8–10 hours.
We appreciate your patience while crews work as quickly and safely as possible to resolve the issue.
