"...if you’re concerned about rising taxes or excessive spending, add Rockland Green (former Rockland County Solid Waste Management Authority) to the list. Rockland Green is raiding the taxpayer piggybank, spending at an alarming pace on everything from animal management to new projects you’ve probably never heard of. Legal fees to defend lawsuits are ballooning, change-orders for the proposed animal shelter have already added $200,000 to the $18 million budget, the quasi-public authority is undertaking a $4.3 million upgrade for its offices at 172 Main Street in Nanuet, and it’s spending $580,000 to build an “immersive” theater in the basement of its headquarters."

We are thrilled to announce that muralist Sıtkı Doğan, the artist who painted the "Freedom Colors" mural at the Haverstraw African American Memorial Park, located at 41 Clinton St. in Haverstraw, has been awarded the prestigious 2025 National Mural Award in Bronze for Region Two. This recognition highlights his exceptional talent and valuable contributions to the art community.

The creation of this mural was made possible through the NY State Downtown Revitalization Grant (DRI). A portion of the grant funds was awarded to Haverstraw Riverwide Arts to support the development of four outdoor murals in downtown Haverstraw.

The NY Metropolitan Transportation Council will attend and would like your input to conduct a final study on improving our transit options while linking the business district to the waterfront.
BFJ Planning will also address a traffic and parking study, and O&R Thermal Energy Network is a new clean energy pilot initiative in the Village. Come to learn more.

When Supervisor Howard Phillips, Chairman of Rockland Green (Solid Waste Management Authority), came to the Rockland County Legislature in 2022 to include animal management in the Authority’s wheelhouse, he said a new animal shelter could be built for $8 million.
Not anymore. Taxpayers will be on the hook to foot the bill to pay principal and interest on the bond over the next thirty years to the tune of nearly $40M.
