One of the things I love most about my job is seeing new and interesting things. After 9 years of inspecting houses, I finally saw a clear P-trap. This is interesting as it shows exactly where clogs and build up happens in the pipe. It's not at the bottom of the p-trap where most people think, but it's at the top, after the trap. The video shows the water flow and blockage. Things like this are what keep my job exciting!

Just a friendly reminder to clean your drains now and then. Blockages can lead to leaks and property damage, not to mention it's just gross🤢. If your sinks, showers, or tubs are draining slow, check them and clean them out. It's a fairly simple process, but consult plumber if needed.

Here is an unusual find from a recent inspection on an almost brand new home. These plumbing vents should go all the way out of the house, so they exhaust waste gasses outside of the home's envelope. At some point during the building process, someone cut them flush with the roofline and sheathed the roof right over them. At a casual glance they look correct, but no vent stacks visible from outside the roof and a distinct odor of sewage inside the attic were easy clues for further investigation that lead to this discovery. For obvious reasons, having sewage gases expelled into your home is not a desirable condition!
