Back-to-school looks a little different when your kids are heading off to college. I can’t believe it’s been 7 years since my son graduated college! Having him no longer home every day was definitely an adjustment for this mama. Suddenly, the house that was once full of backpacks, friends, constant movement and busy schedules can feel a whole lot bigger. That “extra” space you once needed may suddenly feel like more than you want to maintain. For many empty nesters, this is when the conversation about downsizing begins. Not because you have to move, but because your next chapter may call for something different.
So whether you’re thinking about upsizing, downsizing or simply wondering what comes next, just know this mom understands what it feels like when home starts to look a little different.

Back-to-school season is almost here (gulp).
A little prep the night before can make those busy school mornings a whole lot easier. Get the kiddos involved in planning and packing their lunches too. When they have a say in choosing healthy foods they actually enjoy, there’s a much better chance that lunchbox comes home empty. And there’s nothing wrong with the occasional packet of Oreos or chips. Balance parents. Balance. Here’s to a great school year for the kids, parents and teachers! 🍎

We’re already halfway through August, and somehow summer is starting to feel like it’s slipping away. Now, anyone who knows me knows I’ve never been a fan of summer’s heat and humidity, give me a crisp fall day any time. And loads of pumpkin everythang 🎃 ☕️ Buttttt, I have to admit, I’m going to miss the warmth of the sun, the long evenings, lake days and sitting outside just a little bit longer.

Maybe that’s the thing about the seasons…just when you’ve had enough of one, you realize there were parts of it you’re going to miss. So I’m not rushing summer out the door just yet. I’m going to soak up what’s left of it while I can. ☀️

I’ve been wanting to try for a while, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. Fresh, quality ingredients, a generous portion, and a delicious bowl from start to finish. They even went out of their way to make something for me even though I arrived right at closing without realizing it. This is exactly why I love supporting small businesses…the personal touch, the kindness, and the genuine care you just don’t find everywhere. I can’t wait to go back and try another bowl! ❤️

Every home has a story, and sometimes the best pieces are the ones that get a second chance.

This old record player was beyond repair, so instead of tossing it, I turned it into a little book nook. It’s now one of my favorite pieces in the house.

Before you throw something away, take a second look. With a little creativity, you might be surprised what can be given a whole new purpose.
