Captain Real Estate!

So how do you go from Sheriff’s Captain in Southern California to Real Estate Professional in North Idaho? Good question! I’m glad you asked.

I’m not going to explain all the reasons why we left California. Heck, the weather is wonderful there. My wife and I retired from great careers. Our three kids were all grown, living their own lives. In 2010, with our fifth wheel in tow, we traveled to Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. We were searching for a community we could call home when the time came to retire.

The last leg of the trip was Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. A friend from 20 years earlier lived in CDA and requested we stay with them. He took a week off work to entertain us. For a week, he and his wife showed us everything CDA had to offer. We were absolutely convinced this was the right place for us.

Within 6 months, we had purchased 10 acres of forested heaven. The picture above is our view of Spokane and Rathdrum Mountains. In 2012, we retired. We had no intention of retiring so quickly but once you experience what life in North Idaho is all about, it draws you in. In 2014, we sold our house in Apple Valley, California. That same year we built our modest home in the Cougar Gulch area of CDA.
