Winter Reminder for Mountain Homeowners ❄️

With extreme cold moving across much of the country, it’s a good time to think about how winter weather affects mountain homes — especially when it comes to frozen pipes and water damage.

Homes in the NC and GA mountains are more vulnerable due to elevation, colder nights, and seasonal occupancy. A single frozen pipe can cause major damage if it bursts, especially in vacation or second homes.

A few simple steps can make a big difference:
• Keep heat set above 55°
• Insulate exposed plumbing
• Disconnect outdoor hoses
• Have someone check your home if you’re away
• Know when an electrical or plumbing upgrade may be needed

I just shared a new article covering what homeowners should know — including tips for absentee owners and what to look for during inspections.

If you own a mountain home or are thinking about buying one, this is worth a quick read.

Stay warm and stay safe out there.
