We’re Whiplash Retreat, a family owned retreat tucked away on 550+ acres in Hayward, Wisconsin. And we’d love to connect with more people who love the same things we do.

Lake days. Fishing. Hiking. Bonfires. Family getaways. Wisconsin adventures. Being outside and making memories with the people who matter most.

Two years ago today, Whiplash got to be part of something incredibly special. 🤎

On September 21, 2024, dear friends of ours chose Whiplash Retreat for both their wedding ceremony and reception, and it was one of the most beautiful days we’ve ever had here.

They exchanged vows surrounded by the woods and water, celebrated with the people they love most, and filled the property with so much joy from beginning to end.

From the ceremony by the lake to dinner, dancing, laughter, and celebrating together into the night, every part of the day felt meaningful.

We’ve always believed Whiplash is more than a place to stay. It’s a place for people to come together for the moments that matter most, and being trusted with a day this special was truly an honor.

A cabin you almost have to look for. 🌲

Tucked between the pines, right along Whiplash Lake.

No rows of cabins. No busy resort feel. Just your own place in the woods, the water nearby, and plenty of room to settle in.

Close enough to Hayward for everything you want to do.
Tucked away enough to feel like you’ve truly gotten away.

This is what we mean when we say Whiplash is more than a place to stay.

Days on the lake. Dinner together. Kids disappearing to fish, swim or explore. Everyone finding their way back to the beach when the fire gets going.

It’s having enough space to spread out across 550+ acres, and somehow ending up together at the end of the day.

That’s the part of Whiplash we hope people take home with them. 🌲

One of our favorite times of year in Hayward.

Hayward Fall Festival is September 25–26 and such a fun reason to plan a fall weekend up north.

Spend the day downtown enjoying the festival, then come back to Whiplash for time on the lake, trails and a fire at night.

We still have a few cabins available that weekend if you’re looking for a place to stay.
